Black Forest Cake Trifle made in a glass. It tastes the same as the real deal, but it´s so much faster to make! If you love Black Forest Cake, you´ll love this Recipe!
Ok so what´s the deal with this week. Hubby is on leave, kids are on break (it´s Carnaval time here in Las Palmas), and me, well I´m working. I did manage to take the day off yesterday but that´s it, I can´t take off any more. Then they say Blogging is an easy job. Seriously! Since I started blogging I hardly have free time. I force myself to take time off. If not, I´d be in the psycho ward for bloggers (yes I am sure there is such a thing!).
I have people ask me all the time what I do, and when I tell them I am a Food Blogger they ask me if that´s a real job!? Or they say isnt that just a hobby? haaaaaaaaaaa!
Ok enough of the ranting and raving. I actually feel bad for complaining.. especially since I posted a photo of myself with a mojito in my hand on my Facebook page yesterday. Lol!
Let´s get back to this recipe shall we? Here are 3 things about it you should know..
- It tastes just like the real deal;
- It´s super fast to make, and
- You can totally omit the cherry liqueur if you prefer a non alcoholic version.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of chocolate cake (homemade or store bought) cut into cubes
- 1 jar of black cherry preserve
- 4 cups of whipped cream
- dark chocolate shavings (as much as you like!) / chocolate chips could work too
- cherry liqueur (optional)
Instructions
- Layer the chocolate cake in the bottom of the glass.
- Brush with the cherry liqueur which is totally optional.
- Add the black cherry preserve, then the whipped cream followed by the dark chocolate shavings.
- Repeat the process until your glass is full.
- I decorated my tops with leftover chocolate cake crumbs and maraschino cherries!
Notes
Quantity of the ingredients depend on the size of the glass you use.
I really jope you guys give this a try! This could totally work for Valentine´s Day too! Or you could make these cute Strawberry Pie Pops! Just imagine.. a yummy little strawberry pie on a stick. Can it get any cuter?
