Tenerife Canary Islands
If you´ve been following me for some time you would know that I live in Gran Canaria, Spain with my Spanish husband and 2 kids. Gran Canaria is one of the 7 Canary Islands that belong to Spain and the 2nd biggest in terms of size. Tenerife is the most populous island, and also the largest island of the archipelago.
Today I´m sharing some of my experiences in Tenerife with you..
Now before we carry on with this post, I have to shout it out that this is my first EVER travel post! How exciting is that?!
Remember I told you a few posts back that my new blog layout will cover more than just desserts. You can find blogging & photography tips, savoury recipes, travel posts and diy projects now too.
Desserts however will remain my no.1 focus, but I wanted to share more of who I am with you guys. You´ll realise very quickly that travelling is a HUGE passion of mine! I mean like h-u-g-e!!
In the images above and this one below, you see Siam Park. Siam Park was voted no.1 water park in the world by Tripadvisor in 2015. Siam Park is based in Adeje in the southern part of Tenerife island.
My husband and daughter were more brave and conquered the more scary rides.. I was happy to spend time with my 5 year old in the children´s area, self-made beach area and the lazy river.
Words can´t explain how beautiful this park really is! We had a blast and didn´t want to go home.. not ever..
Next up is Loro Park in the image above! This animal park is hands down the best one I´ve ever been to! Not just is it beautiful and filled with lush fauna and flaura, but the animal shows are spectacular!
Sea lions, dolphins and Orca´s. Each show special in it´s own way and makes you respect those animals, and their trainers, so much more!
My 5 year old son, Luca, loves animals and wore his “this is the best day ever” t-shirt the day him and I went. This was our 2nd visit to Loro Park, and just like the first one, we loved it and it really was his best day ever *smile*.
I couldn´t help but share these photos of him! One happy little boy..
Loro Park also offers a stunning bird show, an indoor Penguinarium (which is the largest in the world) and loads more of animal species like crocodile, gorillas, flamingos, etc.
The Penguinarium is amazing! You stand on a conveyer belt as you are transported into another world of antarctic wonder! This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the Park!
The Orca Show is out of this world! These animals are simply magnificent! They are humongous and beautiful!
There are a few places you can grab a bite to eat in the park too. We opted for the the restaurant right next to the theatre where they were showing RIO in 3d. The fact that I can´t remember the restaurants name is super embarrassing! Lo siento! I´ll note it down next time..
I can tell you that we had a delicious piece of german sausage and potato salad. The portions were huge and the price very fair. All in all a very good experience.
The Aquarium is amazing and I just love the photo above I took of one of it´s occupants*smile*. The best part is the glass walkway where you walk underneath a super large tank filled with all kinds of fish, shark and sea life. It´s amazing!
The sharks just lie there and you can actually touch them – through the glass ofcourse!
Ok so let´s move on to the amazing beaches you can find in Tenerife. Like this one called Playa Camison (playa means beach). We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the local beach club while staring out at the ocean. I mean just look at this view!
The last day we spent in Tenerife we went to La Laguna. La Laguna is the 3rd largest city in the Canary Islands and without doubt my favourite. Why? Because it is historic and beautiful and is situated between Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife and Puero de la Cruz where Loro Park is situated.
The Tram (Tranvía as they call it) in Tenerife links the capital with La Laguna. The tram was built about 8 years ago and has 2 lines. It runs every 10, 20 or 30 minutes. How cute are my boys in the photo above??
La Laguna is also very busy during the year because of it´s University, when the city is packed with students from all over Spain.
Cheers! This brand DORADA is a local brewery in Tenerife. Here I´m enjoying their lemon beer version which I absolutely love. It´s light and a perfect drink to quench your thirst on a hot Summer´s day.
I wish I could share more with you guys as I have tons of photos of my trip but I don´t want to overwhelm you with too much information or crash my blog with all the images.. lol!
Until my next post! Have an awesome week guys!
