How often do you guys do date night in? In this post I thought I´d show you how to do a diy date night in, at home, spending quality time with your better half ♥
It´s the time of year where most of us are looking for romantic ideas for Valentines Day. Right? Well we normally are. We like doing something for Valentine´s Day even if it´s just something at home. This year I decided I wanted to do something with the kids too so I headed to the store and bought them each something small which I will give to them when they get home from school/Uni on Valentines. Afterwards we´ll have a pizza party on the living room carpet, AND then me and Daddy will be heading out to a super romantic evening at a restaurant called MANSO, here in Gran Canaria, which I have wanted to go to for a long time…
For this diy project idea, I decided to create a date night in (which we thoroughly enjoyed!) on our little patio and decorated it with the DIY Valentines No Sew Cushion Cover I made as well as the DIY Valentine Wreath. I had so many diy ideas for Valentine´s Day but I didn´t have enough time to make them all (I need MORE TIME! Much much more!). I did however manage to make a DIY Valentines Day Banner and loved the result! To make it, I used pink satin ribbon, my hot glue gun, heart paper napkins (which I cut in strips), doilies & craft paper which I use to, to stick pink sticker letters on to spell the word L-O-V-E ♥
After I cleaned and decorated the area, I heated up our mini 2-tier chocolate fountain, cut up some dark chocolate which I heated in the microwave at 30 second intervals until the chocolate was completed melted with no lumps. Then while it was still hot, I added it to the already heated chocolate fountain. In the morning (before) I made pink heart rosewater rice krispie treat pops, strawberry roses and heart marshmallow & candy kebabs which we dipped into the chocolate (ofcourse!). Oh and I almost forgot, I also make heart chocolate candies to decorate the table with (and I´m pretty sure we ate a few of them too…..).
I also added pink raspberry flavoured candy floss (cotton candy) to the top of our wine glasses. It looked so cool! Thank you to Pinterest for the great idea! The end result was so pretty and I absolutely loved how everything came together, especially when all the candles were lit ♥
Here´s a video I made of our date night in and in it I show you how I made all the treats we dipped into the running chocolate! Click in the image below to see the video…
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

What a fun activity, Johlene! We don’t go out that much anymore now that we have Robbie (ugh…sitters…), so the date night in thing totally resonates with us! I love the idea of pulling out the chocolate fountain (I’ve got one stashed away someplace!) and pouring a glass of wine/champagne with chocolate fondue. I might just have to make that happen. Thanks for the ideas…and happy Valentine’s Day!!
Thanks David! Sorry for the late reply but since starting up again I´m struggling to find my bearings – do you know that saying or is it just South African?? haha! Promise to be much better at the replies in the very near future 🙂
