Chocolate Banana Milkshake made two ways!
You can thank me later because in this post I show how to make a chocolate banana milkshake two ways.. A healthy option with no fat and a not so healthy-at-all option packed with calories *smile*.
You decide which one you want to make..
Hotter than Hot!
I wanted to create a milkshake, since it´s Summer and unbearably hot here (my fault for complaining that Summer hasn´t really come yet..) with chocolate and banana.
What I really wanted to show you guys is how easy it is to create a healthy and light version with the same flavour combo. It´s truly possible!
Show me how!
The frozen banana becomes your ice cream. The fat free yoghurt and milk becomes your dairy and your pure Dutch cocoa powder becomes (or is) your chocolate…… (are you excited yet?)
This recipe is really so easy to make and does not require any special skill or ingredient!
Ingredients
- Healthy and Light version!
- 3 frozen ripe bananas
- 3 tablespoons pure Dutch cocoa powder
- 125g 0% plain or Greek yoghurt
- 1 cup milk
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Brown sugar or Stevia (to taste, optional)
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 scoops chocolate ice cream
- 2 tablespoons of cooled, melted chocolate
- 1 tablespoon pure Dutch cocoa powder
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Healthy and Light version!
- Mix all your ingredients together in a blender, pour in your favourite drinking glass and enjoy!
- Mix all your ingredients together in a blender.
- Add melted chocolate to the inside of your favourite glass.
- Pour in the milkshake and enjoy!
I would love to know what your favourite milkshake flavours are. Tell me in the comments below!
Hope you guys enjoyed this post and are having a great week!

The recipe for CHOCOLATE BANANA MILKSHAKE was very good
This looks like chocolate heaven! It caught my eye because I just had a healthy peanut butter and chocolate smoothie at the mall todayl. I’m wanting to re-create! Maybe I could add some peanut butter….
Jip you could easily add peanut butter and you would definitely love it! 🙂
Hi Johlene, Your milkshakes look amazing! Both of them! I love that you have found a way to have a sweet but still healthy treat! Thank you for sharing at Dream. Create. Inspire. Link! I hope we’ll see you there again tonight!
Cat
Thanks so much for stopping by Cat! The healthy version is really so good! 🙂
I love that you have the two options side by side. I keep hearing great things about the frozen bananas instead of ice cream trick but have yet to try it myself. Maybe soon!
Thanks for sharing with us at the #HomeMattersParty Can’t wait to see what you do next!
You have to try the frozen banana trick, it taste really good! 🙂
YUM! I’ve made something similar to your light version, but your not healthy version sounds so decadent!
Thanks Joanna, I hope you try it and let me know what you think 🙂
Oh. My. Word! So funny, because our State Fair just posted it’s “100 new foods” list & Chocolate Banana shake is on it!! I already told our group THAT is one of my must haves. Thank you for posting (PS, I’ll take the one full of fat & calories, thankyouverymuch)
*its. Sorry, I hate grammatical errors 🙂
Haha not to worry!!
Wow.. love that State Fair list!! Great minds think alike they say *wink*. The fatty one really does live up to its calorie packed reputation *smile*
This looks yummy! 🙂
Thank you so much Alison!
NICE! I’m loving both versions <3
Thanks Kelsey! They both taste really good, the light one is perfect for breakfast too! 🙂
I am weird and love hot summer days!! We don’t get very many so I appreciate them when they come 🙂 Love this milkshake! Banana is my favorite ingredient to put in shakes.
I love banana too in shakes, especially when you make the lighter, more healthier version. Summer days are great but we get something called Calima here and it’s awful! It feels like the heat is suffocating you!
OMGosh – what a great flavor combo! And Johlene – that chocolate dripping down the side? It has me drooling!
Thanks for being so sweet Kristi, your comment mean the world to me! 🙂
This is my kind of milkshake!! I love chocolate and bananas together!!
Me too! The fat free version might have worked on your 30 day challenge…. 🙂
I will admit, I’ve never been a huge milkshake fan. I am more of a ice cream girl. But since I love chocolate so much, I may just have to give this a try. It looks so delicious.

I hope you do Kua. Both options are delicious!
I’ll take the calorie packed one please! This looks so yummy, I love bananas and chocolate 🙂
I love bananas and chocolate too and to be honest the calorie packed one would be my first choice 🙂
