How to Beat the Crowds Like a Pro This Autumn at the Palace of Versailles! 🏰👑🇫🇷⬇️

1. Buy tickets online: Book skip-the-line tickets or guided tours in advance to avoid the ticket queue. *Entry tickets linked in the bio.

2. Arrive early: The palace opens at 9 a.m. – arrive before opening to get ahead of crowds.

3. Visit midweek: Tuesdays and weekends tend to be busier. Opt for a Wednesday or Thursday visit.

4. Explore the gardens first: Head to the gardens early (they open at 8 a.m.), then tour the palace after crowds shift.

5. Pack a picnic: Enjoy lunch in the gardens rather than queuing for food in crowded cafés.

6. Visit late afternoon: Fewer crowds in the late hours, especially after 3 p.m.

During our recent road trip to the French Riviera, we made a stop in Èze before heading to Monaco for a sunset dinner on the beach – a perfect combination if you're planning your own getaway!

Èze is a stunning hilltop village on the French Riviera, nestled between Nice and Monaco. It sits 430 metres above sea level, offering jaw-dropping views of the Mediterranean.

It was once the hideout of pirates! In the Middle Ages, its steep cliffs and strategic location made it an ideal spot for pirates to retreat to after raiding ships in the Mediterranean. The village's fortified walls were meant to protect its inhabitants from these frequent pirate attacks..?

It was built by Béatrice de Rothschild, a woman with serious style and vision. Her dad was a big deal in the banking world, and after a rocky marriage that ended in divorce, she spent years pouring her energy into this amazing place. It’s filled with art and treasures that show off her one-of-a-kind taste.

Inside, you’ll find stunning rooms packed with history, and outside, there are beautiful gardens, each with its own theme. Don’t miss the French Garden, where the musical fountains put on a show that’ll leave you in awe.

The villa’s open every day, so you can take your time exploring. From the dreamy gardens to the art inside, it’s a perfect escape into something special. The cost is 17€ per adult and includes audio commentary in several languages.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from travelling through Europe over the past decade, it’s this: never, ever eat in the tourist hotspots.

Why? The food and service are usually subpar, and the prices are sky-high.

Trust me—just walk five minutes away, and you’ll stumble upon hidden gems like *Le Chrono* in Antibes.

The food was incredible, the atmosphere warm and inviting. Even though the restaurant was bustling, the staff made us feel welcome and did their best to attend to us quickly.
