A Oreo Hot Chocolate Recipe made with real dark chocolate, Oreo cookie crumbs and a whole lot of whipping cream! OREO HEAVEN!
I saw this idea a few weeks ago on Pinterest and knew I had to make an easy version of it like what I did with my Toblerone Hot Chocolate recipe. This time I blended the dark chocolatein my heavy duty blender until I had fine crumbs, almost like real hot chocolate granules. Then I added my Oreo cookies (first I removed the white creamy part) to the same blender, and then blended them up (really) well.
You can stop right here. I did, And ate a few spoonfuls and I was ready to go again…
This week has been a crazy roller coaster ride for me. I was interviewed on a podcast (Oe-weee I was so nervous before the time!) which will go live in a few weeks and when it does, I´ll let you guys know. Or maybe I´ll just listen first and see if it sounds ok before I tell you. Ha!
I also have “officially” (I have been helping other Bloggers here and there) launched (meaning I got me some real, paying clients) my Social Media Management / VA Business this month. I am helping other Bloggers, mostly Food Bloggers, to help take the extra load off them by Managing their social network accounts (for example: cleaning up their Pinterest boards, making sure their boards and pins are SEO ready, etc). I also help with general tasks like newsletter management, graphic design (those long graphics that Pinterest likes so much), WordPress, recipe development, photography, etc etc.
Now you may ask why did I decide to do that? Or, how will you be able to cope with running a food blog and then this on top of that? The simple answer is time management. If you want something to work you put the time and effort in. Since I´m a Mom I dont have much time to waste, so the way I do it is to allocate time slots, to the tasks I need to do, And then I make sure I stick to that.
To answer your other question, I don´t have much sponsored opportunities like you guys that live in the States or Canada for example. Either the Agency won´t work with me because of where I am based, or if they do,they want me to purchase the products in store (and by in-store I mean a store in the States or Canada) which is just not possible for me, unless they´re willing to pay for my flight ticket.. which let´s face it, is Not going to happen.. 🙂
So I needed to find another way to earn money from my food blog. And this is it. This is a way to pay me back for the long hours (longer than long) that I´ve spend learning all about food blogging. This is a way I can help others.
Let´s get back to this delicious Oreo Hot Chocolate, shall we?
Now once you´ve done the blending, you want to add it a mug of very hot milk (I used skinny since the Oreos and chocolate already have enough fat, but hey it´s your choice, you can even add half & half) to make sure the cookie and chocolate crumbs blend well.
Then all you need to do is top it off with whipped cream and some more Oreo cookies, broken into pieces, and you have yourself one very delicious, gourmet, Oreo, hot chocolate! Bang!
Ingredients
- 1 Pack Oreos (remove the white part)
- 300 g dark chocolate (I used with 70% cocoa)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a few teaspoons of sugar (optional)
- 1 L milk / half and half (1/2 cream / half milk)
- Whipped Cream & pieces of Oreos for the top
Instructions
- Blend your chocolate well in a heavy duty blender
- Add the Oreos (without the white creamy part) and blend well too.
- You will be left with fine crumbs. Much like hot chocolate granules.
- Add the vanilla to the hot milk + few teaspoons of the Oreo Chocolate mix.
- Mix well and pour through a strainer to get rid of any lumps.
- Top with whipped cream and pieces of Oreo cookies.
Notes
Makes 4 regular cups or 2 - 3 large mugs
That´s a wrap for this post. If you guys haven´t seen my Barcelona post, why not head over there and see what we did our our recent trip there 🙂
Happy Weekend Guys!!

That’s great news about your social media management business! I’m hoping that global companies start to jump on board the sponsored opportunities. We get tons of them here in the States. Granted, 90% are for things I would never actually use, so I pass on them…but there are still plenty of good opportunities. The world is blogging is crazy. Awesome, but crazy. Speaking of awesome and crazy, this oreo hot chocolate. Woah! You just blew my mind with this awesome creation, and I definitely need a mug of this one today! 🙂
Johlene Orton says
Thanks David!! I’ve been approached numerous times but when they realise where I’m based (even though the majority of my audience is based in the US & Canada) they don’t want to workwith me. Some agencies won’t even let me apply. It’s crazy but that’s how it is for now, And that’s how I knew I had to create other steams of income. Like offering my knowledge and services to other Bloggers 🙂 Yessss blogging is awesome and crazy at the same time 🙂
