Frugal Kitchen Tips and Tricks
In this post I show you how to be more frugal in the kitchen and when baking. I also share some great tips on grocery shopping. So if you have wondered what living frugally means, you´ve come to the right place because in this post I show you how to be frugal in your own kitchen!
What is frugal living?
Frugal living means smarter money management according to Erin Huffstetle a Frugal Living Expert. She says that Frugal Living means smarter spending. “When you know how much money you have in the bank and how much money you need to cover your monthly bills, you can begin to make better decisions about how your money is spent.”
How to be frugal and save money while blogging
One of the top ways ways to be more frugal and save money while blogging (hooray to all those frugal bloggers out there!) is to not buy branded ingredients.
Let me be clear on this, if the branded item is the best you have tasted and used, then by all means continue to use it. Quality is super important.. but (and this is a bigggg “but”) if you´re using it because it´s what everyone else is using and because you want to be known as a blogger that uses branded ingredients, then perhaps this post is not for you.. or perhaps you should continue reading to see what my opinion is..
Being a Successful Blogger does not mean you should fit in and do what everyone else does. To the contrary it means you have a voice and people want to hear what you have to say. To be honest there is nothing more (ok maybe there are a few things *smile*) that I hate more than Name-Sayers. People that advocate brands just to fit in with the masses. One word: B-O-R-I-N-G!
Ways to be more frugal when shopping for your baking materials
Summary – Frugal Shopping Tips
- I make my own buttermilk. This way I make just the right amount called for in the recipe.
- I buy home brands of my local supermarket, where possible, without jeopardising on quality.
- I buy dork chocolate bars and chop them up instead of using chocolate chips.
- I never waste my egg whites (or yolks) if a recipe requires me to seperate them.
- I buy long life products where I can in smaller sizes. This allow me to use just the right amount called for in the recipe and save the rest for the next time I need it.
There are far too many frugal shopping tips to name here but these are my top tips on grocery shopping for when you bake. Remember living frugally not only means that you save money it also means you can pay off all your debts, fund your child’s education, travel the world, ect etc etc! Saving a coupke of bucks, here and there, doesn’t signify a life of deprivation, on the contrary, it opens up a world of possibilities!
Frugal living = Creativity
Being Frugal means to find ways to make due with what you have and learning how to do more for yourself. “Every day presents new opportunities to reuse, repurpose and create, and it’s the frugal person who recognizes those opportunities, seizes them and turns them into savings.” says Erin.
So let´s get frugal!
