1. The big Christmas tree in Galleries Lafayette Haussmann
This year´s tree at the Galleries Lafayette Haussmann is designed by Charles de Vilmorin. The tree stands at an impressive 82-feet tall and is adorned with over 4,000 ornaments and lights. It is located in the center of the department store’s grand hall and is a must-see for anyone visiting Paris during the holiday season.
Visitors can also enjoy a variety of other holiday displays throughout the store, including animated windows and festive decorations in every department. The Galleries Lafayette Haussmann is truly a winter wonderland and a must-visit destination for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit.
2. Christmas decorations Paris 2023
One of my favourite areas to admire the beautiful Christmas decorations in Paris is in Rue Saint-Honoré a popular street lined with high-end stores, luxury boutiques, and designer shops decorated with festive lights, garlands, and ornaments. The twinkling lights on trees along the street create a magical atmosphere.
Rue Saint-Honoré offers excellent shopping opportunities, from designer handbags to high-end fashion, with special holiday deals and promotions during the Christmas season.
3. La Magie de Noël – Tuileries Gardens
The Tuileries Gardens in Paris offers a spectacular Christmas market with vendors selling a variety of holiday gifts, decorations, and delicious food. Visitors can enjoy traditional French Christmas treats, handmade crafts, and a festive atmosphere with twinkling lights, displays, and a towering Christmas tree. The market promises to be a perfect destination for holiday shopping, family outings, and romantic evening strolls during the Christmas season in 2023.
4. The suburb of Montmarte
Montmartre is a famous hillside district of Paris known for its artistic, bohemian vibe as well as its spectacular views of the city. In 2023, it retains its bohemian charm despite new restaurants and trendy boutiques that have opened their doors. Visitors can admire the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica and street artists on Place du Tertre. Don´t miss the Montmartre Christmas market!
5. The Hot Air Balloon Christmas decoration at Village Royal
The decorations at the Village Royal in Paris is a popular attraction during the holiday season. The giant hot air balloon decorated with sparkling lights and colorful ornaments is a beautiful sight to see!
6. Paris Christmas Market at Hôtel de Ville
The Hôtel de Ville Christmas Market is truly spectacular. The neo-Renaissance facade of the building is illuminated with a stunning light show. The falling snowflakes dance across a brilliant blue background, making it the most beautiful market of the year!
7. Ladurée Palace Royal
Bonjour, macaroon lovers! If you’re in Paris, you’ll want to make a beeline to Ladurée Palace Royal in the 8th arrondissement. This pastry palace is renowned for its divine macaroons and baked goods, not to mention the opulent decor that’ll make you feel like royalty. And wait till you see their Christmas decorations that’ll leave you breathless, inside and out!
8. Caffe Concerto (best macarons I’ve ever had!) in Le Caroussel du Louvre.
Cafe Concerto is a charming cafe located in the beautiful Le Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall in Paris. The cafe offers a cozy and sophisticated ambiance, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Visitors can also indulge in a variety of sweet and savory treats, including cakes, pastries, and sandwiches. With its prime location, Caffe Concerto is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike who are looking for a quick bite or a leisurely afternoon. 9. The cute Christmas gift shops all over the city.
The city of love gets even lovelier during the festive season. The gift shops are a treasure trove of charm and creativity, with unique French goodies and beautiful handmade crafts. So put on your fanciest beret and wander through the streets of Paris, soaking up the holiday spirit one gift shop at a time!
9. Paris: Sightseeing Night Tour by Open-Top Bus
A highlights this time of year is to go Paris: Sightseeing Night Tour by Open-Top Bus. Never ever have I seen the Moulin Rouge at night and I was blown away how beautiful it was!! The tour took 2 hours and finished off with the sparkling of the Eiffel Tower (more on that below). The meeting point is in 156 Av. des Champs-Élysées.
10. The sparkling of the Eiffel Tower
Last but not least, the Glittering Lights of the Eiffel Tower were introduced in 2000 to celebrate the new millennium and have since become a popular tradition that lasts for around 5 minutes every hour after sunset. The display draws crowds of people to witness the spectacle and is an experience not to be missed, whether dining or strolling through the city.
