Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake Recipe: eggless cookie dough used to frost some chocolate chip cupcakes!
You have to try these delicious cupcakes!
What I am going to say next will shock my American and Canadian readers but it´s the truth, and nothing but the truth: I´ve never eaten cookie dough before!
Not the cookie dough without egg kind, nor the homemade cookie dough kind or the store bought cookie dough kind.. None, Nada, Niks! (niks means “none” in Afrikaans,, just in case you´re wondering..hehe).

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake Recipe
The reason? South African kids prefer raw cake batter (maybe I could invent something with that..lol) instead of cookie dough, but.. but.. because I love North American desserts and most of my readers of this blog are from The US and Canada, I knew I had to try it.
So what I decided to do is to try different basic cookie dough recipes out there, to see what I think. So this is the first recipe and the original is found on Center Cut Cook (but I saw it on the Bigger Bolder Baking channel on YouTube).
Ingredients
- Vanilla Cupcakes
- 1 stick (115g/4oz) unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 3/4 Cup (130g/4 1/2oz) brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup sifted (133g/41/2oz) all purpose flour
- 1 cup (180g/6 1/2oz) chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons milk (optional)
Instructions
- Make your favorite vanilla cupcake recipe but before filling the cupcake liners, add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the batter.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Cream the butter and sugar together well.
- Add all (minus the milk and chocolate chips) the ingredients and mix well.
- Now add the milk, only if the mixture is too thick. Remember we want to use it as frosting.
- Finally, add the chocolate chips.
- You can store leftovers in the fridge or in the freezer for up to three months.
Verdict?
Since I´ve never had/made raw eggless cookie dough as before, I dont really know what I should look for or how it should taste. What I do know is that this recipe is not sweet enough for me and it taste too much like flour.
What changes would I make to this cookie dough recipe?
I would up the brown sugar to 1 cup or even add a couple of tablespoons of icing sugar and then add another tablespoon of milk to make it more fluffy. I would also add 2 tablespoons of cream cheese to make it more fluffy! Oh and don´t forget to add a pinch of salt!
Now I have some left over cookie dough and will be sharing more recipe ideas with it very soon! I´m excited about this!
Frozen chocolate chip cookie dough – How to?
I simply scooped my leftover cookie dough (in a rectangle form) on to a piece of wax paper / parchment paper and rolled it up as a sausage. Made sure the ends were tightened fastened and then I put the whole thing in a Ziplock bag and made sure all the air was let out before I sealed it.
In my next recipe, I will explain more about the defrosting process because currently I have no advice to share with you since I´ve never done it before (this makes me laugh out loud..haha)! It´s Friday, I´m happy 🙂
Tip: use this eggless cookie dough recipe on top of my vanilla buttermilk cupcakes (just add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the batter before baking) and top it off with a chocolate chip cookie! YUM!
Thanks for reading me and I hope this series on where and how to find the best cookie dough recipe, will interest you as much as it does me.. even if you´ve eaten heaps of it before 🙂

Whooo, blog makeover! It looks great! And I cannot believe you’ve never eaten cookie dough–it’s all about nibbling while baking for me! 🙂 I’m excited to see what other cookie dough desserts you have in store. 🙂
Yes! A new blog but I still have a lot to do! I have had cookie dough but not as a dessert, just nibling while I´m baking (like you said).
