Cookie Dough Sundae
with layers of eggless cookie dough, homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce. Topped with vanilla ice cream (totally optional), glazed cherry and sprinkles. Oh Yum!
So what do you do when you have some leftover frozen cookie dough? You make Cookie Dough Caramel Sundaes! That´s it, nothing to it.. 😉
Remember when I posted those delicious looking chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes and I told you guys how I froze the leftover cookies dough..?
..Then when I posted the Cookie Monster Milkshake recipe, I explained how it was a bad idea to wrap them with wax paper before freezing them.
Why?
..because it stuck to the cookie dough and it took me jonks (do you guys use the work jonks? I wonder if there is even a word like jonks? I checked and can´t seem to find it on Google.. not sure where I got it from.. lol) to take it off! Remember to wrap it with cling wrap (transparent film) before using the wax paper (trust me on this one!).
Well today I´m going to share with you, how to defrost cookie dough!
All I did was to remove the roll of cookie dough from the fridge and then I cut a few disks from the roll and put them on a plate. I left these to defrost at room temperature. Mine took approximately 2 hours but yours could differ, it all depends on the climate where you live..
I have seen these quite a few of these cookie dough sundaes made with chocolate sauce or hot fudge sauce but I wanted to try it with my homemade caramel sauce recipe. It worked really well!
Chocolate chip cookie dough and caramel sauce are meant to go together. Who else but me thinks chocolate by its own is boring? When you add caramel sauce it brings it to a new level.. (now don´t you go arguing with me on this.. why would you want just chocolate, when you could have chocoalte and caramel?? I can´t of a single reason why not to..haha).
Ingredients
- whipped cream
- homemade caramel sauce
- eggless chocolate chip cookie dough recipe
- vanilla ice cream
- sprinkles
- glazed cherries
Instructions
- Layer the first 3 ingredients in the order you prefer.
- Top with vanilla ice cream, more freshly wipped cream and caramel sauce.
- Lastly add sprinkles and a glazed cherry on top!
How to know when your Caramel is ready?
I found this super cool candy/caramel sugar syrup chart and will definitely be referring to it the next time I need it 🙂 Scroll down to the bottom of the chart for when making caramel.
One more thing I wanted to say before I go..
You could totally leave out the vanilla ice cream on top of these, exspecially when it´s really hot because as you can see in my photos they started to melt very quickly. The ice cream does add an extra element to these but it doesn´t define the taste.
I hope you guys feel expired to make these at home. They are not hard to make and you could even buy the chocolate chip cookie dough (just make sure it´s the eggless kind) and the caramel sauce, oh and even better one of those spray can thingy´s for the whipped cream. Then all you have to do, is put it all together 🙂 How easy is that and you´re left with a delicious tasting dessert!
We have a long weekend coming up and I´m super excited about it! What about you guys, what are your plans?
