Easy Valentine Treats!
A super easy Valentine treat – Honeycomb recipe made to taste like one of my all time favourite chocolate bars.. (drum roll) CRUNCHIES CHOCOLATE BAR!
If you´ve seen my post on how to make a DIY Valentine Wreath or how to make these DIY Valentines No Sew Cushion Covers you´ll know that I´ve changed my blog name from FlavoursandFrosting.com to JohleneOrton.com because I felt it was time to show you guys more of me. I do love desserts. Trust me! I have a weakness for anything sweet but I feel like I would be holding back a big part of me. On my new blog, you guys can expect to see recipes, lifestyle posts, fashion & travel tips, DIY (ofcourse!) and Decor. I think that´s all… (I can´t wait to share some awesome content with you guys and I hope you come back time and again to see it all…
That all said, let´s get straight into today´s recipe… HONEYCOMB COVERED CHOCOLATE! Yes Pleassssseeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Ingredients
- 200g (1 cup) white sugar
- 5 tablespoons golden syrup or light corn syrup
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 100g melted chocolate (I used white chocolate)
Instructions
- Add white sugar to a heavy duty bottom sauce pan
- Add the syrup (#trick: dip your spoon into oil to help the syrup pour easily off the spoon
- Bring the syrup to the boil at medium temperature until the syrup has reached an amber colour
- Take it off the heat and add the baking soda, work quickly and stir
- Smooth it out on your baking tray lined with wax paper
- It takes about 30 minutes to set before you can break it into pieces
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave at 30 second increments until smooth
- Cover the honeycomb with the chocolate and alow to set on a baking tray lined with wax paper
Time to decorate for Valentine´s Day!
Since this is for Valentine´s Day I put mine in a little glass jar with a chalkboard label that says HONEYCOMB but you can write something sweeter like for exmaple FOR MY HONEY 😉 I added some pieces with chocolate and some without, closed the jar, and stuck an artificial rose to the top of the jar. Just a tip here guys, don´t use a hot glue gun to stick the rose with because it didn´t work. Use super glue instead. Then I wrote a little card (I bought from Flying Tiger) that says “Be My Valentine” added a little heart stamp (so many littles in there.. haha!), then once dry, close it and put a little (there´s that little again..) sticker at the back of it (mine already had it on), finally stick it on your jar.
That´s one idea and another idea is to use cute paper bags with heart shapes (like the one you see above) and fill it with the honeycomb brittle! Once again try to go for some pieces that are covered with chocolate, and some that aren´t. They say variety is the spice of life and I believe them 🙂 Once your bag is filled, fold it over at the top and seal it with pretty washi tape (don´t forget to add a little card too!). I think it´s so beautiful! What do you guys think..?

So I’m super intrigued about these honeycomb treats! They sound quite tasty…and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to try a new dessert. I’ll have to give these a shot sometime soon! 🙂 Also, love the paper bag idea. It really takes a dessert to a whole new level with the fun packaging.
