Dark Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake
Made with Lindt chocolate. This cake is super delicious! I love the Bundt style cake and this recipe with chocolate & orange cake, covered with melted Lindt dark chocolate and caramelized orange.. is a winner!! Rich, moist and full of flavor!
This recipe was compiled from diferent recipes and by chance I had to add olive oil as I ran out of sunflower oil.. and because the result was so perfect I´m sharing the exact recipe with you guys.. I want to make sure your result is the same..
RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 360g of flour
- 3 tspn of baking powder
- ½ tspn salt
- 6 eggs
- 400g of brown sugar
- 150ml sunflower oil & 50ml of olive oil
- 120g cacoa powder
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
- rind of 1 orange
- juice of 1 orange
- 120ml of milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon
Method:
Prepare a Bundt Cake pan and preheat your oven to 180C.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon & cocoa powder in a bowl, in a separate bowl mix the sugar and oil, the grated orange rind and orange juice. Now add the eggs one by one. Add the sifted mixture to the oil mixture. Add milk and vanilla essence. Bake for approximately 1 hour. Leave to cool in your Bundt pan for 2 hours before taking it out.
Ingredients for the topping:
- Rind of 2 oranges (cut julienne style, try to omit the white parts of the peel)
- 1 cup of water
- 1 ½ tspn of cinnamon
- Juice of 2 oranges
- 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 2 x 100g Lindt Dark Orange chocolate bars
Method:
Boil the orange peels in water and cinnamon spice until soft, remove the water and add the vinegar, sugar and orange juice and cook on a medium to low heat until the sauce has thickened and the orange peels have been caramelized.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave, check in 15 second intervals to make sure it does not burn, let it cool slightly, now pour over the cake and then add the caramelized orange and pour on top of the melted chocolate.
All I can say is this cake is rich, moist and super delicious and I hope you guys like this recipe as much as I do!
